About the Book
In a time when a mere mention of Karl Marx’s name raises eyebrows from mercenaries, Karl, Not Marx is an attempt to unravel a society facing its existential moment with the fire of resistance that makes a revolution inevitable.
Apart from two original and one extended piece, the essays in this volume were previously published in Rappler, Vox Populi PH, and the author’s Medium account.
About the Author
Karl Patrick Wilfred M. Suyat is a journalist by heart and an activist by profession. He is the outgoing provincial coordinator of College Editors’ Guild of the Philippines and a member of Institute for Nationalist Studies. A former editor-in-chief and editorial head of two student publications, he now contributes for Rappler, Now You Know, and Forward Magazine PH. Currently, he serves as Vox Populi PH’s Opinion Head and is also an incoming iskolar ng bayan in UP Diliman. In his spare time, he either reads Hannah Arendt or gatecrashes in online discussions.
The cover photo was taken by the author’s friend and former classmate, Owin Perez, while the book design was meticulously crafted by Maria Kristelle C. Jimenez.
